10 Sporting activities that should be on your New Zealand bucket list, all covered automatically with your Easy Travel Insurance travel cover.
Let's face it, even though we adore cruising and all the adventure, fun, activities, excitement and relaxation that it brings, we all want to end up safely home on good 'ole terra firma. Here at Easy Travel Insurance, we don't want to see you left 'High and Dry'. Life on a cruise ship can be the best fun of your life, partying at night, and waking in a different country every day, relaxing by the pool and enjoying countless deck activities. Check carefully when comparing the Product Disclosure Statement that you have cover for all the activities you may encounter and want to join in with, both on board, and at any destination that your ship docks at.
There are lots of types of cruises available so what destination should you select for each option? If you are cruising:
From a port in Australia to another port or ports in Australia without any stopover at a port outside of Australia (e.g. a ‘Sampler Cruise’, a cruise from Sydney to Brisbane) – these cruises go outside of Australian Coastal Waters - Please choose or enter “Domestic Cruise” as your destination.
Within Australia (e.g. on the Murray River) or in Australian Coastal Waters (e.g. a Kimberley Cruise) – Please choose or enter “Australia” as your destination.
Overseas (e.g. a European river cruise, Caribbean cruise or a cruise from Hong Kong to Sydney) or from a port in Australia to another port or ports outside Australia (e.g. Sydney/Singapore) - Please choose or enter the main area or destination/country based on where You will spend the most time on Your trip.
You don’t need to add cruise cover if You are:
• not travelling on a cruise
• on a cruise for only one night
• only taking a ferry trip
• are cruising in Australia (e.g. on the Murray River) or in Australian coastal waters (e.g. a Kimberley Cruise)
• are sailing (Note: Sailing is not covered in International Waters)
If cruise cover is included in your policy it will be shown on Your Certificate of Insurance.
As soon as you book your cruise you need cover for cancellation due to one of the defined events shown in the Product Disclosure Statement. This can include, accident or unforeseen illness to one of the travelling party or their relatives, retrenchment, jury duty, natural disaster/severe weather, insolvency of one of the travelling parties or cruise line.
You also need to think very carefully about the logistics of being away on the high seas, you are not covered for hospital or medical costs by your usual private or public health care provider.
Medical facilities on most cruise liners are necessarily limited and may result in some travellers being off-loaded at the next port and taken to the local hospital for treatment. That's why it's essential to have adequate travel insurance to cover you for not only the treatment but also the additional cost of repatriation back to Australia. Will your insurer evacuate you from a ship by helicopter if required? We will!!
